Howard Has Another Monstrous Night Magic Crush Nets 95-70
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
If Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard had any doubters before this season at just how dominant he is at his position, he has stifled them. Probably forever. Friday night Howard had another monstrous performance against the New Jersey Nets, as Orlando just trounced New Jersey 95-70.? The Magic center had 21 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, while teammate forward Rashard Lewis had a game high 27 points, and 5 boards in the victory. Combine that with New Jersey shooting an anemic 29.8 % from the field and an embarrassing 18.2% from outside the arc (2-11 from three point range)?and you have the makings of a very one sided game.
Four of the five Orlando starters were in double figures, as guard Jameer Nelson had 15 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, and Hedo Turkoglu chipped in with 12 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds. New Jersey also had four of their five starters in double figures. Richard Jefferson who has basically carried the Nets offensively all season, and especially since Vince Carter went down did not have a good night. Jefferson led the team with 15 points, but he accomplished it by going 4-19, from the field, 1-3 from outside the arc, and 6-10 from the line. Certainly not impressive numbers in any category, he did have 9 rebounds however. Point?guard Jason Kidd had a triple double, with 11 points, 19 rebounds,?and 10 assists, Antoine Wright had 14 points, and Bostjan Nachbar had 13, in the loss.
New Jersey has certainly not been the same team since Carter went down, and Nenad Krstic’s ineffectiveness has him down to coming into the off the bench. Krstic was the eleventh player put into the game by coach Lawrence Frank played 4:44, took one shot, missed it and had goose eggs across the board. New Jersey is now 4-5, Orlando with the win is now 8-2.
