?Tonight’s game between the New York Nuggets and Denver Nuggets probably reminded people, who remember their American history classes, of when General Custer got ambushed.? Taking on the role of General Custer and his troops were the New York Knicks.

This game was dominated from beginning to end by the Nuggets, with their lead being as big as 34.? Other than the game being well in hand early on, there was one tense moment; during the fourth quarter, with Denver comfortably ahead, New York forward Renaldo Balkman committed a hard foul on Denver swingman Linas Kleiza.? Kleiza took exception and began jawing at Balkman.? Fortunately for both sides, cooler heads prevailed, and Kleiza was assessed a technical foul.? The Nuggets brought in their bench after the incident.

Five Nuggets scored in double-digits, led by F Carmelo Anthony with 24 points with 6 assists.? Guard Allen Iverson added 23 , while the aforementioned Kleiza chipped in 18.? New York’s high scorer was F Zach Randolph with 16 points and 11 rebounds; Randolph had rejoined the team?from attending his grandmother’s funeral.? Reserve F David Lee added 9 points and 11 boards.? Denver (7-3), winners of their past 5 games, play again on Tuesday when they host the Chicago Bulls.? New York (2-7), now losers of 6 straight, return home to host the Golden State Warriors.
