Howard And A.I. Named NBA Players of the Week

The NBA announced Monday that Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, and Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson were named the NBA Players of the week. Howard who won the award for the Eastern Conference has ratcheted up his game a couple notches from last season, and has led the Magic to a 9-2 record through Sunday night. Howard averaged 23.3 points and a conference high 13.3 rebounds per game for the week. The Magic went 4-0, including defeating the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. Boston had previously not lost this season.

Iverson, who was traded to Denver in the middle of last season led the Nuggets to a perfect week of 3-0. ?A.I. averaged 26.7 points per game for the week, and had two monster games. He carried the team over the Cleveland Cavaliers scoring 37 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Denver blew Cleveland out of the gym as Denver won 122-100. Iverson also two days later, scored 20 points, 7 assists, and grabbed two rebounds, pushing Denver over Portland 110-93.
