The Dallas Mavericks took on their in state rivals the Houston Rockets Wednesday night in a rough and tumble game with Dallas coming out on top 100-94.? The game featured 10 lead changes and 10 ties as momentum shifted radically from quarter to quarter.

The Rockets were the aggressors in the opening period, as they led at the end of the quarter 30-25. Momentum shifted Dallas’ way in the second quarter to give the?Mavericks a 47-46 lead?at the half. The fireworks started in the third quarter as it looked like the game was going in Houston’s direction. The Rockets, not only took back the lead, but did it by what looked like a comfortable margin. At the end of three quarters it was Houston 74-Dallas 62, but the dramatics were not over yet. Dallas outscored Houston 38-20 in the final quarter to take the game 100-94.

Mavericks point guard Devin Harris led the charge with a team high 22 points, 5 assists, Josh Howard had 20 points, 7 rebounds, Dirk Nowitzki scored 18 points and had a team high 14 rebounds. Coming in off the bench Brandon Bass had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and Jerry Stackhouse had 15 points, and 5 boards.?Houston center Yao Ming?led all scorers with 30 points, as he went 11-18 from the field and 8-9 from the line. Yao also had a game high 15 rebounds in the loss. Tracy McGrady made his return to the?Houston lineup with 15 points, a game high 12 assists, and 7 rebounds as?his elbow proved to be no handicap. Rafer Alston scored a season high 18 points, while Shane Battier had 12 for the Rockets. Dallas now has a record of 9-2, Houston after getting off to a strong start is now 6-6.
