Six players in double-figures as Kings sink Spurs 112-99

The Sacramento Kings probably played, to date, their best game of the year Monday night against the San Antonio Spurs. They shot 55% from the floor (including 41% from 3-point land) and made 91% of their free throws. Those figures were more than enough for the Kings to beat the Spurs 112-99 at Arco Arena in Sacramento.The first half was fairly close, with Sacramento holding a slim 52-48 halftime lead. But Spurs point guard Tony Parker’s jumper with 9:37 left in the third quarter put San Antonio up briefly. After San Antonio forward Bruce Bowen’s 3-pointer made it 56-54 San Antonio, the Kings went on a 15-0 run to give Sacramento a 69-56 lead. The Kings outplayed the Spurs in the 3rd quarter before San Antonio G Darius Washington hit a 3 at the buzzer, reducing Sacramento’s lead to 86-73.
The Spurs started a small run, led by swingman Michael Finley; Finley made a 3-pointer with 8:24 left in the game, then a layup by Washington would pull the Spurs to within 9, 92-83. Kings swingman John Salmons would convert a 3-point play at the other end moments later. At the 6:58 mark, Finley would drain another 3 to make it 95-86 Sacramento; the Kings would maintain their lead for the rest of the half, sealing the victory.
6 Kings scored in double figures, led by former Spur Beno Udrih with 27 points; Ron Artest provided a strong effort with 20 points. Brad Miller and Mikki Moore chipped in with 17 points each; Miller also added 10 rebounds and 7 assists. San Antonio was led by Tim Duncan with a quiet 15 points, while Fabricio Oberto added 13. The aforementioned Parker pitched in with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Sacramento (5-9) plays again on Wednesday night as they continue their homestand, hosting the Golden State Warriors. San Antonio (12-3) returns home to host the Washington Wizards, also on Wednesday.
