Celtics With Stand The Heat Win 95-85
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The Boston Celtics Friday night allowed a?28 point lead over?the Miami Heat to shrink to just 7 points in the fourth quarter, but held on for a 95-85?victory. The win gives Boston a record of 13-2 the best in the NBA. The Celtics who had been on a?roll all game long dried?up offensively in the final period scoring only 12 points. But the hole that Miami had found themselves in was too deep for the team to ever?reach level ground.
The Celtics during the third quarter had a lead of 81-53, as they had huge nights from their three stars. Paul Pierce had a game high 27 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals. Kevin Garnett had 23 points, 9 boards, 1 assist,?Ray Allen had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Lucky for them the cushion they had built was?too high for Miami to overcome.
The Heat were led by Jason Williams who is suddenly turned into quite a force since going from being a starter to sixth man. As the late great Red Auerbach always said, it’s not who starts the game but who finishes the game that counts the most. Williams shot 8-17 from the field and 6-12 from outside the arc for a team high 22 points. Udonis Haslem had?a double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, Shaquille O’Neal also had a double-double with 13 points, and a game high 11 rebounds. ?Dwayne Wade had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist. Turnovers plagued the Heat all night as they ended up with 24. Miami is now 4-11, they leave Saturday for a 6 game road trip. Boston will host?the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
