Magic improves to 11-2 on road, beat Warriors in OT 123-117

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard nearly cost his team the game; luckily for him, he got the chance to redeem himself in overtime. Howard scored 4 points in overtime as the Magic won their 5th out of 6 road games, beating the Golden State Warriors in overtime 123-117 at Oracle Arena.Magic forward Rashard Lewis made a running hook shot, enabling Orlando to go into halftime leading Golden State 57-48. The Magic would turn a 5-point lead into a 90-81 advantage on one play when Orlando’s Hedo Turkoglu scored and was fouled; Warriors coach Don Nelson was then assessed a technical foul for arguing the call. Golden state would then score 7 straight points to make the Magic lead 90-88.

Lewis’ 3-pointer tied the game at 105 with1:10 left in the fourth quarter, then Turkoglu missed a 3. Turkoglu fouled Golden State’s Stephen Jackson at the other end and Jackson would make both free throws with 24.5 seconds left. Howard missed a dunk with 18.7 seconds remaining and was fouled, but because Howard smacked the padding on the basket standard which earned him a technical. Golden State’s Jackson made his free throw while Howard made 2 free throws.

But Golden State guard Monta Ellis missed the first of 2 free throws with 17.4 seconds left and a 3-pointer at the buzzer. That happened after the Magic’s Lewis made 2 free throws tying the game at 109 with 13.4 seconds left. But the Magic took over in the overtime period, outscoring Golden State 14-8 to secure the victory. Orlando had 7 players, in double-figures, led by Keith Bogans and Jameer Nelson with 22 points each; Nelson would also grab 8 rebounds and hand out 11 assists. Lewis would contribute 20, while Howard was “held” to 18; however, Howard did grab 23 rebounds. Turkoglu, on 7-of-21 shooting, would chip in with 21.

Golden State also had 7 players in double-figures, led by Jackson with 25 points. Ellis added 22, with 12 rebounds and 7 assists; Baron Davis would contribute 19 with 9 assists. Al Harrington would add a double-double, scoring 13 and grabbing 11 boards, while Andres Biedrins had a solid 11 with 15 rebounds. Kelenna Azubuike also had 11 for the Warriors in the loss. Orlando (16-4) returns home to host the Indiana Pacers Friday night, while Golden State (9-8) remains home to host the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

    DWIGHT is Averging close to 4 ThrowDowns a GAME!

    He is a more in-shape and refined/better low-post version of Shaq because he actually has some post moves along w/ a left, though he STILL DUNKS Everything…
