One can say that picking a NBA Player Of The Month is based on stats; the same can be said about picking a NBA Coach Of the Month - sort of. It is a bit easier to pick a coach for mainly one reason - wins in a given month. Having said that, the NBA announced Monday that Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich have been named NBA Coaches Of The Month for November - Rivers for the Eastern Conference and Popovich for the Western Conference.Unlike past seasons, Rivers has an embarrasment of basketball riches - Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. The trio played no small part in helping Rivers get the nod for the Eastern Conference. Rivers coached the Celtics to a league-best 13-2 record in November, including eight straight wins to open the season. Popovich, who has guided the Spurs to 4 NBA championships in 9 seasons, has picked up where he left off from last season. He guided the Spurs to a franchise-tying record 14-3 mark for the month of November.
