Cavaliers Match Bobcats Offer Sheet Will Keep Varejao

The Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday announced that they have matched the offer sheet that the Charlotte Bobcats had extended to free agent forward Anderson Varejao. Varejao who was a restricted free agent is now back as a member of the Cavaliers, after a long and protracted holdout, that caused the player to miss the first month of the campaign. Terms of the deal have not been released, but unnamed sources close to the situation, say the contract is for three years. According to the source, the third year of the pact could be a player only option, meaning Varejao would have final say on whether to play the third year, or opt out of the deal. The same sources estimate the pact to be worth 5 million dollars per season. Varejao has played 3 years in the NBA, all with Cleveland.?The 25 year old native of Brazil has averaged 5.6 points, and 5.7 rebounds in his career.
