J-Kidd Much Ado About Nothing
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
When the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets played Wednesday night, in a game that the Knicks ended up winning, Nets point guard Jason Kidd was not at the arena. With the combined, New York and New Jersey media at the event, Kidd not being at the game turned into a bizarre version of “Where’s Waldo.” Speculation involved everything from J-Kidd being on a one day protest strike, to his demanding to be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and or the Los Angeles Lakers. Others speculated that his not being at the game was his way of showing displeasure with the Nets organization for not agreeing to extend his contract last month.
Apparently none of the reporters must have asked New Jersey coach Lawrence Frank about where his starting point guard was. Frank knew that Kidd was at home recovering from a migraine with the team’s knowledge and their consent. It seems that Kidd took a blow to the head Tuesday night when New Jersey defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kidd was on the phone with New Jersey trainer Tim Walsh at noon, and called the club back later that day saying he was not feeling well enough to play. Nets President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn, was rather disgruntled by all of the conspiracy theorists, saying that Kidd was sick, and that the point guard was hurt by some of the accusations that had been thrown around. Kidd told reporters, that he is only human , and yes he does break down every once in a while. Kidd basically told the reporters that the non story was ludicrous. He pointed out, that he was having some of the best numbers of his career production wise. He also mentioned that New Jersey, had a better record this year than they had a year ago. Kidd seemed more bemused than upset about the whole affair.
