We don’t normally use Forbes Magazine as one of our sources here at Slam Dunk Central. In fact this is the first time, but on Friday Forbes came out with their list of NBA Teams worth, and it is a rather? interesting compilation. The financial value of a team has no correlation with their win and?loss records, hence last year’s NBA Champions the San Antonio Spurs are number 10 on the list. The list according to Forbes is based on the team’s ?current arena deal?unless the team is in the process of getting a new stadium,? and without a?deduction for debt, other than arena debt.

The Number One team on the list is the New York Knicks who according to the magazine are currently worth 608 million dollars. The Los Angeles Lakers, are second with a value of 560 million dollars, the Chicago Bulls, come in number three at 500 million. The Detroit Pistons number four, at 477 million dollars, the Houston Rockets, take the fifth slot at 462, while fellow Texans the Dallas Mavericks are number six at 461 million. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the defending Eastern Conference Champs are number seven at 455 million, Phoenix Suns are in the eighth spot at 449 million. The Miami Heat are number nine at 418 million the Spurs in tenth at 405 million, and the Boston Celtics who lead the league in wins this season, and have more championships than any other team is number eleven at 391 million dollars. Forbes has the Portland Trail Blazers down at the bottom of the list as they say the team has a value of 253 million dollars.
