Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Allen Iverson scored a game high 35 points, and 12 assists, as the Denver Nuggets beat the Dallas Mavericks Thursday night 122-109. Iverson had scored 51 points the night before only to see his team lose to the L.A.?Lakers?111-107. The Nuggets took the lead in the first quarter in this contest and really never let Dallas get close enough to be a legitimate threat. Denver shot 50.5% from the floor for the game and shot 50% from outside the arc as well.
This game was filled with scoring starting in the first quarter as Denver led 39-32 at the end of the period, and then 64-56 at the end of the half. The Mavericks were able to cut the lead to just 6 points at the end of the third, but Denver finished strong in the final quarter double digit difference.
A.I. shot 12-19 from the floor, 11-13 from the line and had 6 steals to go along with his 35 points, and 12 assists. Carmelo Anthony and Linas Kleiza both scored 23 points for the Nuggets, Kleiza again showing he can hit that trey as he hit 3-5. Kleiza has had a few good games off the bench for Denver this year, and Coach George Karl seems to think of him as a go to guy, and so far Karl’s confidence has paid off. K-Mart Kenyon Martin is looking healthy again as he scored 18 points, and 7 rebounds, and how about Marcus Camby turning into a glass cleaner supreme! At 33 Camby seems to have grown very fond of rebounding, grabbing 20 in the Lakers game, and? a game high 14 in this contest as well as 8 points.
Dirk Nowitzki had a monster night for Dallas with a double-double. Nowitzki shot 10-20 from the floor, 2-5 from outside the arc, a perfect 10-10 from the line for 32 points, and 12 rebounds. Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, Josh Howard had 20 points, 6 boards, and Devin Harris had 12 points, and 4 assists. Both teams now have identical records of 12-8.
