Amare Stoudemire scored a game high 27 points, and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Steve Nash had a double-double of 12 points, 19 assists, and the Phoenix Suns outscored the Washington Wizards Friday night 122-107. The Suns have scored 258 points in their last 2 games having beaten Toronto Wednesday 136-123. Phoenix continued to have the hot hand as the shot 54.9% from the floor as a team hitting 50-91 shots.

A lot of observers have compared Steve Nash game to former Utah Jazz point guard John Stockton, but I think there is a more apt comparison. Nash’s style to me is very reminiscent of Magic Johnson, neither of these guys have the most talent on their teams(Those of us old enough to remember, know Johnson had no outside shot hen he came into the NBA. He worked on it during his career, until that and that baby sky hook turned into his arsenal.) Neither is the most athletic on their teams. But both knew how to distribute the ball to the right guy at the right time to maximize that players talents. That is why Steve Nash has won two NBA MVP?Awards. If I was a NBA General Manager, and I was starting a team I would rather have a point guard who can give me double digit assists, on a nightly basis rather than double digits in points. To have some one like Nash who can do both is a treasure!

The Wizards kept it close in the first half as they trailed only by 4 points?30-26, at the end of the first quarter, and 60-55 at the half. But Phoenix broke it open in the third quarter as they outscored Washington 40-21. Although the Wizards made a surge during the fourth quarter, it was too little too late.? Phoenix had four other players in double figures, Raja Bell 22 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, Leandro Barbosa 20 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds. Grant Hill continuing his comeback tour scored 18 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and Shawn Marion also had a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds.

Washington had 7 players in double figures, led by reserve forward Andray Blatche who also?had a double-double?19 points 10 rebounds, Antawn Jamison also with a double-double 16 points, 11 boards. Guard Roger mason came off the bench with 15 points, Brendan Haywood scored 14 points, while the rook Nick Johnson had another nice game off the bench with 13 points. Caron Butler, and Antonio Daniels each scored 12, Butler with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, Daniels with 7 assists, 4 rebounds. Phoenix improves to 16-4 with the win while the Wizards are now 9-10.
