Timberwolves Snap 5-Game Skid, beat Suns 100-93
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under Main

If success was a meal, then the Minnesota Timberwolves would be anorexic. But the T-Wolves were starving tonight, and the Phoenix Suns were the main course. A second-half collapse by the Suns was the key as Minnesota got past Phoenix 100-93 at the Target Center. The Suns offense shot 58% in the first half, taking a 56-55 halftime lead; however, rebounding - especially of the offensive variety - kept the Timberwolves relatively close.Minnesota would go on a 14-4 run that would give the T-Wolves an 87-80 lead after 3 periods; both teams would match baskets in the fourth as the Timberwolves held on for only their third win of the season. Al Jefferson had a monster game, leading all Minnesota scorers with 32 points and grabbing 20 rebounds - Minnesota as a team grabbed 33 rebounds. Marko Jaric added 19 with 5 assists, while Craig Smith chipped in with 16 and 8 rebounds.
Phoenix was led by Shawn Marion with 18 points and 4 blocked shots, while Amare Stoudemire added 16; Steve Nash contributed 14 while dishing out 15 assists. Minnesota (3-15) travels east to take on the Washington Wizards Tuesday night, while Phoenix (16-5) returns home to host the Miami Heat Monday night.
