The NBA announced Monday that Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, and Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy the Eastern and Western Conference NBA players of the week, for the period between December 3-9. Smith helped the Hawks attain a 3-1 record last week, the player in his fourth season in the NBA averaged 22 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.3 blocks. His big moment was on December 6, as the Hawks faced the Minnesota Timberwolves. Smith scored 28 points, tied a league?season high of 7 blocked shots, and had 7 boards. Smith is the only player in the NBA to be in the top ten in both steals, and blocked shots this season.

Roy now in his second year in the NBA, averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 boards, and 7.3 assists. Portland went 3-0 last week. Roy helped The Blazers defeat the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday night117-113 as he shot 59.2% from the floor, had 9 assists, and 8 defensive rebounds.
