NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week Josh Smith, looked like he was campaigning for the award again as he had a double-double leading the Atlanta Hawks to an upset victory over the Orlando Magic Monday 98-87. Smith scored a game high 25 points, and a team high 16 rebounds, to lead Atlanta to their consecutive win, the first time they have?had three wins a row this season. The?loss for Orlando was also the first time this season, that the Magic have lost two games in a row. Orlando lost Sunday to the Toronto Raptors?93-80.

This was not a game that you will see one day on “ESPN Classic“, Orlando had a terrible night shooting wise as they shot a season low 39.7% from the floor for the game.?Atlanta certainly did not evoke memories of the days of Dominique, and Doc Rivers as they shot a tepid 42.7% for the game. However the game did feature some superb individual performances, Smith for Atlanta, and Dwight Howard who also had a double-double for Orlando. Howard scored 14 points, had a game high 18 rebounds, 2 blocked shots, 2 steals and 1 assist.

Atlanta dominated this game from the jump, they came out on fire in the first quarter, outscoring the Magic 29-19. Orlando shaved off 2 points in the second quarter as they trailed at the half 49-41. They cut the lead to just six points at the end of the third, as the Hawks led 69-63, but Atlanta finished the game strong sealing the victory with another 29 point quarter in the fourth.

Smith was just an out and out warrior on the floor dishing off 5 assists, with 4 blocked shots, and 4 steals to go along with his double-double.?Joe Johnson scored 24 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, Anthony Johnson scored 15 points, grabbed 6 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals. Marvin Williams, scored 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and Shelden Williams came off the bench also scoring 12 points, with 7 rebounds, and 1 blocked shot.

Hedo Turkoglu was the high scorer for the Magic with 22 points,7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 blocked shot. Rashard Lewis scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and Keith Bogans scored 12 points, and had 4 boards in the loss. Atlanta is back at even after the win as their record is now 10-10, while Orlando is now 16-6.
