Paul Pierce scored a game high 26 points, to help keep the Boston Celtics undefeated at the “New Garden” as they topped the Sacramento Kings 90-78 Wednesday night. Boston has started the season 11-0 at home, their franchise record is 12-0 which occurred in the 1984-1985 campaign. The following year the Celts went a NBA best 40-1 at home, they went on to defeat the Houston Rockets that year for the team’s 16th league title. It was the last year Boston won in the NBA Finals.

Boston did not have a good night offensively as they shot a tepid 39.1% from the floor for the game. But it was defense that ended up winning the game for the Celtics, as they held Sacramento to just 33 points in the second half, and only 14 points in the fourth quarter. Boston took the lead after the first quarter 25-17, but trailed at the half 45-44. However the Celtics defense was superb, and they scored just well enough to come away with an easy win.

Pierce along with his game high 26 points, had 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 blocked shot in the win. The game was also the debut in the starting lineup for Celtics rookie center Glen “Big Baby” Davis who was 1 board shy of a double-double, with 16 points, 9 rebounds, Davis shot 3-6 from the floor and a perfect 10-10 from the line. Looks like teams aren’t going to play “Hack-A-Baby” with Davis, if he can keep that up! Davis started in place of Kendrick Perkins, who while trying to be handy around the house dropped the bed he was trying to fix on his big toe on his right foot. Kendrick, you are a professional athlete, you are supposed to have people to take care of that! Ray Allen scored 15 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, and Kevin Garnett scored 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist.

Sacramento is still playing without their leading scorer Kevin Martin who has been out with an injury for now four consecutive games. Ron Artest and Beno Udrih each scored 16 points for the Kings,?Artest with 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2?blocked shots, 1 steal, Udrih had 4 rebounds, 3 assists. The Slovenian native is in his fourth season?in the NBA, had previously played for San Antonio. During the Summer Udrih was traded to Minnesota, who then waived him.?When Mike Bibby got hurt just before the season began Sacramento signed him and he has done a nice job as a fill in. Brad Miller scored 14?points, 7 rebounds, John Salmons filling in for Martin scored 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocked shots, 1 assist, and Francisco Garcia, came off the bench scoring 10 points, 4 boards, 2 assists. Boston is a league best 18-2, while Sacramento is now 8-13.
