The NBA went through their usual Monday announcement ceremony, as they named Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce, and Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy respectively the Eastern and Western Conference NBA Players Of The Week. This was the second time in this still relatively young NBA season that Roy has?won the award. Roy helped?lead the Blazers to a perfect week as they went 4-0. Roy averaged 23.0 points, 6.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, during the week. He had a double-double against the Denver Nuggets, on December 16, scoring 26 points, and grabbing 11 boards. Portland has won their last 7 games in a row, and are back to the .500 mark at 12-12 and are in third place?in the Northwest Division.

Pierce the mainstay of the Green Machine who was joined by superstars Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen in the Boston starting five helped his team attain a record 3-0 week, as they are in the midst of a 9 game winning streak. Boston is off to a league best 20-2 mark, which ties the team’s record for best start back in the 1963-1964 season! Pierce averaged 25.3 points, 5 rebounds for the week.
