Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson, left, is guarded by Memphis Grizzlies swingman Mike Miller, right, in the first half of their game, played Monday night. Jackson scored 28 points, leading Golden State to a 125-117 victory over Memphis.

Typically, when Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay scores over 30 points, they usually win. But there was a slight problem - their opponent was the run-and-gun Golden State Warriors. Three Warriors scored over 20 points as they escaped with a 125-117 victory over the Grizzlies before a small crowd at Memphis. Both teams shot well - Golden State at 53.4%, Memphis 51.8% - and it showed in the halftime score which had Golden State ahead 66-56. Golden State seemed to be in control as they kept a double-digit lead until halfway through the 4th quarter, when Memphis began a barrage of 3-pointers; they began connecting with a 3-pointer by Juan Carlos Navarro and a pair of 3’s by Mike Miller. Gay would add 2 free throws to get the Grizzlies to within 113-107 with 3:07 left in the game; unfortunately, Memphis weouldn’t get any closer for the remainder of the game.

Golden State had 6 players in double-digits - 3 scoring over 20 points - led by Stephen Jackson with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists - a strong game indeed. Monta Ellis added 23, while Baron Davis contributed 22 points, 4 boards and 8 assists. Al Harrington would chip in as well with 17, while Kelenna Azubuike would have a perfect game - 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting (including 2-of-2 from the 3-point arc) and 1-of-1 from the charity stripe.

Memphis was led by Gay with 32, while Miller added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Reserve guard Kyle Lowry would contribute 18, while Navarro chipped in with 17. Golden State (14-11) continues its 5-game road trip with a visit to Minneapolis to take on the Timberwolves Wednesday, while Memphis (7-17) continues its homestand by hosting the San Antonio Spurs - also on Wednesday.
