Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh shoots over Los Angeles Clippers forward Tim Thomas during the first half of their game, played Tuesday night.  Bosh scored 24 points, leading Toronto to the win over Los Angeles 80-77.

Toronto forward Chris Bosh scored 12 points in the third quarter, which helped the Raptors hold off the Los Angeles Clippers 80-77 at the Staples Center Tuesday night. As the final score indicates, neither team shot especially well, with Toronto shooting an anemic 37.5%, while Los Angeles wasn’t much better, shooting 39%.Los Angeles held the lead 23-19 at the end of the first quarter, on 10-of-21 shooting, while Toronto shot only 8-of-23; Clippers guard Richie Frahm scored 8 points in the period. Los Angeles led 49-41 at halftime, with center Chris Kaman and swingman Corey Magette with 10 points apiece. After trailing for the majority of the first half, the Raptors caught up with the Clippers, knotting the score at 58 on Bosh’s free throw with 4:01 left in the period. Toronto would then outscore Los Angeles 7-2 to take a 65-60 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Los Angeles, down by 9 with 6:16 left in the game, reduced Toronto’s lead to 77-75 on Frahm’s back-to-back 3-pointers - the last one with 27 seconds remaining. The Raptors’ Jose Calderon would make a layup with 9 ticks left on the clock and Carlos Delfino added a free throw 3 seconds later to seal the win for the Raptors. Toronto’s high scorer was Bosh with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists; Bosh with his 9 rebounds, became the Raptors’ all-time leading rebounder with 2,847, besting Antonio Davis’ 2,839. Jamario Moon added 16, while Calderon scored 12 with 6 rebounds and 9 assists.

Los Angeles was led by Magette with 22 points; Frahm added 13, while Kaman scored 12 on 5-of-15 shooting while grabbing 16 boards and blocking 3 shots. Toronto (15-11) travels north to Portland to take on the improved Trail Blazers Wednesday night, while Los Angeles (9-15) flies to Texas to take on the Dallas Mavericks Friday.

    I watched the 2nd half of that game. It was utterly unbelievable. Almost every play of the 3rd quarter was ran out of Bosh from the post position. You would have thought LA would just start to double team him and force another player to take the shot. Then the fourth quarter came and it was more of the same!!!!
