Knicks Get Serious Take Cavaliers To Task 108-90
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Wednesday night the New York Knicks stood up to the challenge, their collective manhood had been called into question Monday night by coach Isiah Thomas. Thomas posed the question to the assembled media at Canseco Field House, as to whether his team had the desire and the will to win. The Knicks had just been beaten by his former team the Indiana Pacers 119-92, and Zeke was not a happy man. He wondered if his players had any pride, apparently he hit them where they live. The Knicks had 6 players in double figures, and shot 56.7% from the field for the game. Their opponents at MSG the Cleveland Cavaliers had LeBron James and a whole bunch of nothing, advantage New York 108-90.
David Lee came up big for New York coming off the bench and getting a double-double, 22 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, shooting 9-12 from the floor, and 4-4 from the line. Jamal Crawford had 21 points, 6 assists, 2 boards, and 1 steal. All three starters in the Knicks front court had good nights, Zack Randolph, 17 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, Quentin Richardson scored 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and Eddy Curry scored 10 points, 5 boards, 2 assists. Nate Robinson scored 11 points off the New York bench, with 2 steals, and 2 boards.
Cleveland’s offense consisted of their Superstar LeBron James, with a game high 32 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals. Drew Gooden scored 11 points, a disappointing 5 rebounds, 1 assist. Knicks won the battle of the boards 41-33. Cleveland had no other players in double figures, Larry Hughes led the rest of the team with 8 points, 5 players had 7 points, only one other player had more than 1 assist Anderson Varejao with 4. Out of the Cavaliers 16 assists as a team 10 came from their starting small forward, and their backup big man! Can you say it’s time for Cleveland to get a point guard? Speaking of point guards Stephon Marbury was in uniform but was a DNP. Marbury is still recovering from the recent passing of his father. New York improves to 8-17, while Cleveland is now 11-15.
