Anderson Varejao, had his best game of the season, after starting late due to a lengthy holdout. Varejao also had a double-double as he scored 11 points, and pulled down a game high 15 rebounds. The national television audience that saw this game witnessed a roller coaster, as the 2 teams were tied 28 times and the lead changed hands 36 times in the contest.

Both teams came onto the hardwood smoking offensively, as they ended the first quarter shootout knotted up 28-28. Los Angeles pulled ahead in the second quarter as they led 53-51 at the half. The Lakers increased their lead by the end of the third quarter to 78-73, but that’s when Cleveland got serious turning up the defensive intensity to shut down the Lakers. Los Angeles had four of their five starters in double figures, Bryant led the team with 21 points, as he shot 8-22?from the floor, also missing all three attempts from outside the arc, and 5-8 at the line. Kobe also had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal. Two Lakers had double-doubles, Lamar Odom scored 19 points, 11 boards, 2 steals, 1 assist, Andrew Bynum scored 17 points, also with 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal. Derek Fisher had 18 points for the Lakers, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals in the loss. Cleveland after being humiliated in New York in their last game, are now 12-15, the Lakers are 15-10.
