Boylan Is Bulls Interim Head Coach

The Chicago Bulls Thursday announce that they have named their former assistant coach Jim Boylan as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. Assistant coach Pete Myers ran the club Wednesday night, while General Manager John Paxson came to a decision , to name a new bench boss. Boylan succeeds, former head coach Scott Skiles, who was fired on Monday after the team got off to a less than stellar start 0f 9-16 and are mired in last place in the NBA’s Central Division. Myers lost his only game as coach Wednesday, as Chicago lost to the San Antonio Spurs 94-79.
Boylan first came to the Bulls in May 2004 as an assistant to Skiles, this was his fourth season as an?assistant with Chicago. Boylan is a 14 year veteran as a NBA?assistant coach,?having come into the NBA as video coordinator/scout f or Lenny?Wilkens who was the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The following season when Mike Fratello took over as head coach,?he named Boylan an assistant coach a post he stayed at for four seasons. Boylan also had stints, with the then Vancouver Grizzlies, the? Atlanta Hawks, and the Phoenix?Suns, where he first worked for Skiles.? The 52 year old Boylan was part of the 1977 NCAA Champion?Team at Marquette, he was drafted in the fourth round of the NBA Draft?in 1979 by the Buffalo Braves (now the Los Angeles Clippers) the 68th pick overall.
