Hawks Win 5th Straight, Beat Pacers 107-95

As of late, the Atlanta Hawks have been resurgent.? It wasn’t that long ago when they were an easy mark, even at home.? All of?a sudden, the Hawks seem to be winning at home with some form of regularity.? And without a doubt, the Indiana Pacers have taken notice.? Hawks’ guard Joe Johnson certainly did his part as he led the Hawks to a big win over the Pacers 107-95 at Atlanta Wednesday night.
Indiana closed the first quarter with a 9-0 run for a 25-23 lead;?a 3-pointer by Pacers G Kareem Rush would stretch the Pacers’ lead to 32-25.? But Atlanta would close the gap late in the second quarter,?eventually taking the lead going into the third quarter 52-45.? Atlanta would break a 70-all tie with 12 straight points in the third quarter to take the lead for good.? The run would continue into the 4th quarter as back-to-back baskets by Hawks’ swingman Josh Childress increased Atlanta’s lead to 82-70 in the final quarter.
Atlanta’s had 6 players in double-digits, led by Johnson with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists; Josh Smith would score 16 while grabbing 7 boards.? Shelden Williams recorded a double-double, adding 10 points and grabbing 10 boards.? Indiana’s leading scorer was Troy Murphy with 19 points, including three 3-pointers; Jamaal Tinsley and Jermaine O’Neal scored 16 each, with O’Neal grabbing 10 rebounds and Tinsley dishing out 12 assists.? Atlanta (15-12) travels west to Texas to take on the Dallas Mavericks Saturday afternoon, while Indiana (15-14) flies to Detroit to take on the Pistons Friday night.
