New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd went into last night’s game against the Detroit Pistons needing eight assists to surpass former NBA player Gary Payton; he reached that pinnacle at halftime, and totalled 13 for the game.? Kidd now has 8,972 assists to Payton’s 8,966; Kidd has the opportunity to move past former Pistons point guard Isiah Thomas (9,061) into fifth place on the NBA all-time assists list, perhaps as early as mid-January.
