????????????????????
The seemingly never-ending story of New Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury keeps getting more interesting by the day – or so it seems.? Even Knicks coach Isiah Thomas doesn’t seem to have any idea when or if Marbury will return to the team anytime soon.? According to SportsTicker, Thomas was evasive regarding Marbury’s status – which is interesting in light of their relationship.
Marbury has been on bereavement leave since his father passed away on December 2; he has missed four straight games and 8 of the last 9.? On Wednesday, after Thomas claimed that he expected Marbury back at some point this season, he backed off those claims, simply saying, “I don’t know.”? Marbury has been a case study of unpredictability, of which this adventure began on November 13 when he left the team when learning that he had been demoted to the bench.? After missing a game against the Phoenix?Suns that same night, he returned to the?Knicks 2 days later and came off the bench in 2 of the next 3 games.
Then there’s the off-court stuff involving Marbury.? The testimony that involved Thomas and the plaintiff in the court case, one Anucha Sanders Browne.? Marbury also has had past brushes with past coaches, including Larry Brown.? It is also common knowledge that while talented, he is a selfish ballplayer (Hey Ricky Davis, you have competition!!) who cannot seem to mesh or co-exist with the current Knicks players.? I’m glad that I am not James Dolan, owner of the Knicks; I can only speak for myself when I say that if the Knicks were my team, I’d have cut ties with Marbury a long time ago.? It would be expensive for sure, but is any player worth that amount of headache?
