Giricek Traded To 76ers For Korver

??????????????????????????????????????????? ?Utah Jazz guard Kyle Korver

???????????????????????????????????????????? Philadelphia 76ers guard Gordan Giricek

Well, so much for the “love-fest” between Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan and embattled guard Gordan Giricek; SportsTicker is reporting that the Jazz on Saturday traded Giricek to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Kyle Korver.? The Sixers also receive from the Jazz a “protected” first-round pick - presumably in 2008 - in the deal.

The trade came 10 days after Giricek was sent home by the Jazz - Sloan specifically - after the two argued on the bench during a game against the Charlotte Bobcats.? And as one would expect, Giricek on several occasions requested a trade.? Following a 3-game absence, Giricek returned to the team but did not play in a Jazz loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.? After meeting with Giricek prior to the game, Sloan said that he would eventually be reinstated into the rotation.

But alas, he was shipped to the Sixers less than 24 hours later; you can expect Philadelphia to let Giricek go after this season, as he is on the books for $4 million this season.? Giricek, a 6-year player, has spent parts of 5 seasons with Utah - averaging 8.9 PPG and 2.1 RPG.? In his career, he is averaging 9.8 PPG and 2.5 RPG in 350 games with Utah, Orlando and Memphis.?

Korver, a marksman from beyond the 3-point arc, is averaging 10 PPG and 2.9 RPG in 25 games this season.? Korver has as of late struggled from beyond the 3-point arc, shooting only 35.2% so far this season.? He ranks second on Philadelphia’s all-time list for 3-pointers made (661) and is a career 41% shooter from 3-point land.
