Celtics Blow Out Lakers 110-91

“One final note, and this will probably be the only time you will see me write about anything to do with fashion, or fashion design in any story. That being said, what was up with those uniforms the Mavericks sported on National Television? I am assuming they are alternate uniforms? Please guys, don’t wear those things again, they may have been the ugliest things I have seen since the Cleveland Browns orange jerseys!” 12-28-07
That moratorium did not last too long, 2 days to be exact. But then again I never expected to see the Los Angeles Lakers sporting “OLD SCHOOL” NBA shorts Sunday night in High Definition no less! Okay, I was born in 1956, I lived through the 1960’s, the 1970’s, and the 1980’s. Two things should never be brought back, Leisure Suits, and NBA players in hot pants. The only thing uglier, than a fat man in a leisure suit, is a big man in a pair of shorts, that are too tight, and too short! Burn those things guys please!
Unfortunately for the fans at the Staples Center the only thing hot about the Lakers game was their shorts, as the Boston Celtics swept their West Coast swing, and their season series against Los Angeles as they won Sunday in a blowout 110-91. The loss temporarily kept Phil Jackson from passing the Late, Great, Red Auerbach for sole possession of seventh place for most regular season wins by a NBA coach. If this edition of the Green Team had any “Celtics Pride“, you knew Jackson was not going to win this game. Los Angeles shot just 35.4 % from the floor for the game. When you are playing against a team with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce that is not going to get it done.
Boston took control of this game early all though the Lakers kept looking like they were ready to break through until early in the fourth quarter. The Celtics grabbed a 32-23 lead at the end of the first quarter, Los Angeles was able to trim it by a point at the half as Boston led 63-55. Boston started to pull away late in the third quarter, as they had an 82-66 lead heading into the fourth. By the end of the game both benches were empty as the starters were no longer in the game for either team (when Gabe Pruitt gets minutes, you know it’s garbage time.)
Paul Pierce did not need to get angry to lead Boston Sunday night as he scored a game high 33 points, shooting 9-19 from the field, 4-8 from outside the arc, and 11-13 from the line, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists. The “Big Ticket” had a double-double as Garnett scored 22 points, grabbed 12 boards, 6 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals, Ray Allen scored 19 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist. Tony Allen got the start at point for Boston as Rajon Rondo did not play because of a balky right hamstring, Allen scored 16 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 22 points, although he did not have a good night shooting, 6-25 from the floor, 0-6 from outside the arc, however he did hit 10-11 at the line, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block. Lamar Odom had a double-double, 14 points, 10 boards, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 1 assist, Derek Fisher had 11 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal in the loss. Boston is now a league best 26-3 while Los Angeles is 19-11.

The Lakers looked real tight tonight. I’m not sure if it was the time off or the shorts hindering their movements!
