Saunders & McMillan Named NBA Coaches Of The Month

The NBA announced Wednesday that Detroit Pistons coach Flip Saunders?was named the NBA?Coach Of The Month from the Eastern Conference, while Portland Trail Blazers coach?Nate McMillan was awarded the honor from the Western Conference. The Pistons had a franchise record setting month as the team went 15-2, most wins ever by a Detroit team during the month of December. Detroit currently leads the NBA Central Division, and won their last 9 games in the month..

McMillan helped lead the Trail Blazers back from the edge of the abyss, as the team went on a 13 game winning streak during the month of December, a month in which their record was 13-2. It is the longest winning streak this season in the NBA, the second longest winning streak in team history. The Blazers who looked like they were dead and buried coming out of the gate are now 18-13 good enough for second place in the NBA Northwest Division, a?half game behind first place Denver Nuggets.
