Changing Of The Guards In Memphis, Conley is In, Damon Wants Out
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The Memphis Grizzlies may have began a new era Wednesday night, as they started rookie Mike Conley Jr. at the point guard as the Grizzlies defeated the Indiana Pacers 90-72. Conley scored 7 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and just 1 turnover in playing over 34 minutes. Conley took over for veteran point guard Damon?Stoudamire, who is now on the inactive list and wants out of Memphis. Thursday Stoudamire’s agent Aaron Goodwin told the “Memphis Commercial-Appeal“? that Stoudamire wants to be traded, or have his contract restructured so that Memphis would release him. Goodwin said that Stoudamire being relegated to being an “insurance player” was insulting and demeaning to his client. Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni has not named Conley the permanent starter, only saying he would start Friday night as Memphis takes on the? Boston Celtics.
