Pistons Streak Grows To Ten Wipe Out Wizards 106-93

The Detroit Pistons started 2008 the way they finished 2007, with a win?easily dispatching?the Washington Wizards Wednesday 106-93. The victory was Detroit’s tenth straight, their longest winning straight since ripping off 11 wins in a row in January 2006. Speaking of ripping the Pistons were led by Richard “Rip” Hamilton who was 1 assist short of a double-double as he had a team high 20 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals. Hamilton was one of 7 Detroit players to score in double figures, as the team shot 48.7% from the floor, and 50% 11-22 from outside the arc for the game.
Washington came out of the gates smoking, actually having the lead at the end of the first quarter 27-26, but Detroit took their game up a notch in the second quarter leading 57-47 as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms.?The Wizards were never a factor in the second half as the Pistons just kept adding on?leading the Wizards 84-72 at the end of three quarters.
Hamilton shot 7-18 from the floor including hitting 1-2 treys, and shot 5-5 from the line for his 20 points. Rasheed Wallace scored 16 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, Chauncey Billups also scored 16 points,?2 assists,?1 block. Jason Maxiell came off the bench to score 15 points, 7 rebounds, Jarvis Hayes also coming off the bench scored 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal. Tayshaun Prince scored 11 points, 5 assists, 1 rebound, and Antonio McDyess scored 10 points, 8 boards, 1 block.
Washington was led by Caron Butler who had a game high 22 points, shooting 7-14 from the floor, 8-8 from the line for a game high 22 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals. Antawn Jamison scored 21 points,?9 rebounds,? Antonio Daniels in his first game back from the injured list, scored 18 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound. Brendan Haywood had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block.? Detroit now is 25-7, while Washington is back at .500 at 15-15.
