New Reports Say Areans May Be Out For Season

If I were NBA Commissioner David Stern, I would institute an immediate ban on NBA players having blogs. Why you ask?? Because they always seem to get the athlete in trouble, and then they blame it on my profession the media, for reporting what they have written! This past Summer Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko while in Russia wrote that he was not sure that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and he saw things eye to eye, and he wanted to stop playing in the NBA and play for a Russian team this season. When Kirilenko showed up on Media Day with the the Jazz, he said the whole thing was much ado about nothing, and that we the Media were blowing it out of proportion.

Now we come to the latest saga in the mixed information age, as Gilbert Arenas is now saying according to the “Washington Times” on Sunday, that he may play again this season. This just one day after he informed the planet on his blog, as we reported here, that he was planning to return to the Wizards lineup on March 15. The Times is reporting that Arenas is now stating that unless he is feeling perfect, and the Wizards are in a?playoff situation he would consider coming back. If?not Arenas?says, he has no hesitation about shutting it down completely until next season. Arenas has had two?knee surgeries in? the past 7 months, he probably pushed himself too hard to come back too quickly after the first procedure. There is no shame in his being cautious, even overly so, I saw Kevin McHale end his career early by playing during the NBA Playoffs with a stress fracture in his foot. He did major damage to himself, and was never the same player afterwards. So Agent Zero, by all means take all the time you need to come back. But keep your message consistent, you can not do a complete 180 degree turn in 24 hours, and maintain your credibility. And Gilbert, that is the only thing no one?else can take from you, you can only lose it yourself.
