Shaq Heads To West Coast For Painful Hip

The Associated Press reported Monday that Miami Heat center Shaquille O’Neal has left the team to travel to Los Angeles for medical treatment on his bruised left hip. O’Neal has not been able to play in the last five games. He suffered the injury on December 22, when the 16 year NBA veteran dove for a loose ball and banged into the scorers table. Miami is in the midst of a five game road trip, and are will play in Minnesota Tuesday night as they take on the Timberwolves. Miami is already depleted in big men, as they lost Alonzo Mourning last month for the season after undergoing surgery. O’Neal hopes to be back in time for the game, no word on whether he would be able to play has been released.
