The Associated Press reported Saturday that?New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations and head coach Isiah Thomas took great exception to a report in Saturday’s “New York Post.”? The NYC tabloid published a story in Saturdays edition quoting an anonymous source as stating that Zeke told a friend that he was considering leaving the bench to concentrate fully on being team president. Thomas called the reports “a flat out lie” and said he had no intentions of stepping down from either post.

Thomas has been the object of deep scrutiny especially by the New York tabloids all season long. He has also been the object of the fans’ vitriol?at MSG where the chants of “Fire Isiah” are heard each time the Knicks play. Thomas has been given to making some rather outlandish vows recently that do not seem to have any connection with reality. Last month New York reporters could barely contain themselves, when Thomas told them he could see light at the end of the tunnel, and that he would bring back a winning attitude and a championship to the Knicks. New York is currently 9-26 in last place in the NBA Atlantic Division.
