Celtics Give New York A Head Ache Knock Out Knicks 109-93

In a day that was supposed te celebrate the life of a man whose mission in life was to promote among other things peace and harmony, the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks were anything but peaceful, and harmonious. Allowing the moment to master them, rather than mastering the moment themselves Boston’s Paul Pierce, and New York’s Quentin Richardson were both ejected from the game in the third quarter. Two grown men acting like children on a day the nation was commemorating the birth of slain Civil Rights Leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pierce and Richardson were mouthing off at one another, and both received two technicals ejecting them from the contest. Boston’s center Kendrick Perkins got charged with a technical also in the quarter. In between all the arguing a basketball game did take place the Celtics in a rout over New York 109-93.
Celtics?coach Doc Rivers was very angry after the game, and he did not hide it. He told the media after the game?”You don’t need to run your mouth. I wasn’t happy with that. We deserved the techs. We deserved the ejections. We deserved everything we got and we’re very lucky to win the game. We’re playing a team that’s playing terrific, you get caught up in that and you lose the game.”??
The first half was all Boston, as they led 29-23 at the end of the first quarter, and had a 59-45 advantage as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms. New York cut the lead in the third by 2 points, and the emotions started to rev up, which led to the ejections.?After the smoke cleared it was the Celtics leading the Knicks 82-70, the fourth quarter was extended garbage time.
Kendrick Perkins led Boston with a?career high 24?points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block 1 assist. Kevin Garnett recorded a double-double 20 points,?13 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal, Ray Allen scored 17 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal. Rajon Rondo was back in the lineup and scored 14 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, Pierce had 10 points, 7 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal.
Zach Randolph also recorded a double-double for New York 24 points, 15 boards, 4 steals, 2 assists. Jamal Crawford scored 22 points, 5 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal, Eddy Curry had 19 points, 6 rebounds.?Nate Robinson came off the bench scoring?15 points, 24 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals. Boston won it’s third straight game after losing 3-4 now has a record of 33-6.?the Knicks are 13-28.
