Shaq On Shelf For Two Weeks

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Miami Heat center will be shut down yest again this time for a two week period as he tries to recover from an ailing left hip. O’Neal had a MRI performed on Tuesday which showed major inflammation around his hip socket. According to team doctors O’Neal’s playing is just making the situation worse. The game plan is to treat the veteran with ice and rest, and they hope that will allow his hip to heal. The Heat have lost their last 14 games, 3 games short of the worst stretch in team history. Although O’Neal would not talk to the media, Pat Riley did speak with reporters. The Heat coach showed he was exasperated with the situation telling media members “His activity, the activity, is exacerbating it. That’s all. That’s what happens. He’s trying to do everything he can do. He’s gotten all the treatment he can get. And now it’s probably going to be an inactive period of time until the thing heals.”
