The “Chicago Tribune“?reported on Wednesday that Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng will be out of action for the the foreseeable future. The?newspaper quotes Bulls?interim head coach?Jim Boyland saying that the Chicago star will be “Shut down, for a significant period of time.”

Deng? who is in fourth season in the Association all with the Bulls, has a strained left Achilles tendon. He sat out 3 games early in the month, and then had to miss last Saturday’s win over the Detroit Pistons as it started hurting again. The mindset of the team?is that this malady will not heal unless the club’s second leading scorer gives body time to recover. Boyland?would not elaborate on how much time that Deng is expected to miss, but the paper is speculating this?will be a period of weeks, not days. Chicago is 16-24 in the NBA Central Division, 12 games behind division leading Detroit.
