Trouble In Clipper Land Dunleavy And Sterling In War Of Words
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The “Los Angeles Times” reported Tuesday that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and head coach Mike Dunleavy have started to fight it out verbally in the media. The first blow was struck by Sterling, who spouted off in the paper that he was disappointed in the team’s performance this season. He then according to the reports went on to say, that if team General Manager Elgin Baylor, and Dunleavy could not get the job done, he would find others who would.
I am old enough to remember Mike Dunleavy as a player, he was not the most skilled player out on the court, but he was as scrappy and as tough as they come. Dunleavy showed that he has lost none of that fire when he responded to Sterling’s statements. Sterling was quoted by the?the paper?as saying “It would be the biggest mistake you ever made. It’s his team and he can do whatever he likes … but look, you can find any coach you want, bring him in here and run the situation. But I don’t think they are going to do as good a job as I do. And that’s period.”
Dunleavy is currently signed to a five year pact, reportedly for 22 million dollars that he signed last year. The Clippers have a 12-25 record and are in last place in the NBA Pacific Division.
