Disgraced NBA Referee Sentencing Delayed Again

???????????????Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy?

It looks like disgraced NBA referee Tim Donaghy has bought himself some time; according to SportsTicker, Donaghy, who has pleaded guilty to charges of passing confidential NBA information to gamblers, had his sentencing delayed for a second time.? He was due to be sentenced on Friday, but due to a heavy court backlog, federal judge Carol B. Amon has delayed the hearing until April 18.

Donaghy is facing a maximum of 25 years in prison; in addition to the prison time he faces, Donaghy must also pay a $500,000 fine and at least $30,00 in restitution.? He is released on $250,000 bond.? Donaghy resigned from the NBA after an investigation by the FBI charged him with betting on NBA games – perhaps games that he has officiated in – as well as providing confidential information to others so they could profit from gambling.? Donaghy admitted to passing information to bettors during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons; during that time, he had refereed 139 regular-season games, 8 playoff games and 4 preseason games.
