Pargo Gets Hot As Hornets Swarm Blazers 96-81

Jannero Pargo came off the bench to score a game high, and a season high 24 points in just 24 minutes of playing time as the New Orleans Hornets handily took care of the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night 96-81. Pargo in his sixth season in the Association and his second with the Hornets, helped his team?come back from being?down by 12 points? in?the?first quarter. New Orleans has now won six straight games, and?have won 14-16 and lead the NBA Southwest Division.

Portland had the early advantage, leading 25-13 with 1:07 left in the first quarter, but the Hornets finished the period on a 7-1 run to cut the deficit to 26-20 at the end of the quarter. The Hornets would take the lead?with 6:54 remaining in the half at 32-29 they would?never trail again in the contest. New Orleans had a 48-44 lead at the end of the first half. They extended the lead to 70-59 at the end of the third quarter, Portland was never a viable threat in the final quarter.

Pargo shot 10-18 from the floor, 2-6 from outside the arc, and 2-2 at the line for his 24 points,?5 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 block. David West scored 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, Chris Paul recorded a double-double, 18 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. Peja Stojakovic scored 12 points, 6 rebounds.

LaMarcus Aldridge shot 8-14 from the floor, 1-2 from the line for 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists.
