Eventually, the Miami Heat will win a game; now when that will be is anyone’s guess at this point.? The San Antonio Spurs, despite looking tired for most of the game - and with the help of a late basket by Manu Ginobili with 36.5 left in the game - managed to escape American Airlines Arena with a 90-89 win over the Heat Thursday.?
Despite the final outcome, this game could be described as nme of the better efforts by the Heat in recent memory, as they were either leading or tied for the vast majority of the game.? But at the same time, it tells you something about the Spurs’ resolve, especially at the end.? Despite Miami center Mark Blount’s 15 first-half points and the team shooting 56% in the first half,?poor free throw shooting?by the Heat only allowed them to hold a slim 46-45 lead at halftime.
Miami managed to have a 10-point lead in the third quarter,?and would trail for only the second time all game when the Spurs’ Tony Parker made a pair of free throws with 2:23 left.??Miami’s Dwyane Wade made a layup 12 seconds later to put Miami back on top; but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Heat managed only 8 points over thr final 8:50.? San Antonio was led by Tim Duncan who had a marvelous game with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.? Manu Ginobili, from off the bench, scored 18 with 11 rebounds and 8 assists; Parker had a quiet game with only 12 points.
Miami was led by Wade with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists, while Blount had one of his better games with 23 points.? Udonis Haslem grabbed 12 rebounds in a losing effort.? San Antonio (27-14) returns home to host the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday, while Miami (9-32) hope to snap their league-high 15-game losing streak when they host the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.?
