After tonight’s performance against the Sacramento Kings, Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer may have made a strong case to be selected as a reserve for the Western Conference squad in the 2008 NBA All-Star Game; Boozer’s 33 points helped the Jazz leave Energy Solutions Arena Friday with a win over the Kings, 127-113.
Utah shot a scorching 57.7% from the field - 57.1% from beyond the 3-point arc - while Sacramento shot a respectable 48.6%.? Both teams went to the free throw line often, as well - Utah went 29-of-38 while Sacramento went 36-of-42.? Besides the hot shooting by both teams, there was some drama as well.? The Kings’ Ron Artest was whistled for 2 technical fouls - the first after tangling with Utah’s Matt Harpring and the second after a push-off on the Jazz’ Carlos Boozer with 4:34 remaining in the game.
But the star of the game was without a doubt Boozer; he made his first 13 shots before finishing 15-for-19 from the field.? A third technical was whistled on Kings coach Reggie Theus after Kevin Martin went after Harpring after he committed an offensive foul.? Kyle Korver made the technical free throw to give Utah a 106-93 lead which they would not relinquish.? Utah was led by the aforementioned Boozer with 33 points and 10 rebounds; Andrei Kirilenko scored a quiet 25 with 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocked shots.? Deron Williams had a decent game, adding 16 with 14 assists, while Korver chipped in with 15.
Sacramento was led by Martin with 32 points, including 3 treys; Brad Miller added 16, while Artest chipped in with 15.? Utah (25-18) travels to Houston to face the Rockets on Sunday night, while Sacramento (18-24) flies to Seattle to take on the SuperSonics - also on Sunday.
