Stoudemire, Grizzlies Agree On Buyout

?????????????????????????????? Damon Stoudemire?

In what has been expected for some time, the Memphis Grizzlies and point guard Damon Stoudemire have reached a verbal agreement on a contract buyout Saturday, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.? The buyout in question is expected to be announced on Monday; Stoudemire will then will have to clear a 48-hour waiver period before signing.

Because of this buyout, you can rest assured there will be lots of interest in Stoudemire; expect Boston, Phoenix and perhaps Toronto to be bidding for his services.? Currently, he is making $4.35 million and is due $4.65 million in 2008-09; while he is no longer the point guard that he used to be when he was with the Portland Trail Blazers, he is a serviceable point guard who is more cap-friendly to a team as opposed to say…..Sam Cassell.? Stoudemire this season is averaging 7.5 PPG and 4.3 APG, with a career average of 13.8 PPG and 6.3 APG.
