Suns Shower Treys Over Cleveland Squeeze Past Cavaliers 110-108

Although the temperature was below freezing in downtown Cleveland Friday night it was raining inside the Q Arena. Raining threes that is courtesy of the Phoenix Suns who connected 17-33 times from outside the arc, and combined with shooting 53.7% for the floor for the game beat the Cavaliers 110-108. LeBron James scored a game high 36 points, but it was not enough to keep the Cavaliers winning streak alive. It was only the third loss for the Cavaliers in the last 14 games.
The winning streak looked like it would continue with ease in the first half, as? Cleveland led 34-26 at the end of the first quarter and had a 69-56 advantage at the half. But Phoenix, not a team particularly known for defensive intensity, showed exactly that in the second half, while ratcheting up their offense at the same time. Phoenix was able to shave 10 points off the lead in the third quarter, as?Cleveland’s lead was down to just 3 points 90-87 heading into the final quarter.?The fourth quarter was back and forth as Raja Bell tied the game with 10:38 left in the period with a trey as the two teams were deadlocked at 92-92. Cleveland then scored 6 unanswered points to put the Cavaliers up 98-92 at 8:57 when LBJ hit a 20 foot jumper. Still the lead went back and forth as there were 10 ties, and the lead changed hands 17 times.?James?penetrated to the hoop to tie the game at 108-108 with 22 seconds remaining but Shawn Marion hit his only bucket of the game as he?put up a? running jumper which went into the hole with 1 second left Phoenix up 110-108. Damon Jones heaved a desperation shot at the buzzer, which was no where near the backboard, and Phoenix had won the game.
Raja Bell, and Steve Nash led? Phoenix with some absolutely?sick numbers. Bell shot 8-12 from the floor, 6-10 from outside the arc, 5-5 from the line for a team high 27 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal. Nash shot 9-11 from the field, 7-9 from outside the arc, 1-1 from the line for 26 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds. Amare Stoudemire scored 22 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal, Leandro Barbosa, scored 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block. Boris Diaw scored 11 points, 9 assists, 4 boards, 2 blocks, 2 steals.
James shot 14-30 from the floor, 8-10 from the line for his 36 points, he had 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals. Larry Hughes had his best game in quite a while scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, Zydrunas Ilgauskas recorded a double-double 21 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, 1 block, 1 steal. Phoenix with the win now has a record of 31-13, Cleveland is 23-19.
