Rudy’s Double-Double Leads Grizzlies Past Clippers In O/T 125-120

Rudy Gay recorded a double-double scoring a career high 34 points, and grabbing 12 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday night in overtime 125-120. The Grizzlies were without forward Pau Gasol who was out with a bad back, and starting point guard Mike Conley Jr. who missed the game due to a chest contusion. Los Angeles played without center Chris Kaman, who missed the game with a sore left shin. Corey Maggette led all scorers as the Clippers forward scored 35 points.

Memphis?led the entire game until the end of regulation?when the Clippers forced the game into overtime. The Grizzlies led at the end of the first quarter?36-28. The Clippers cut the lead down to just?2 points, as Memphis led at the half 61-59, but had the lead back up to 8 points, at the end of the third 90-82. Maggette tied the game with 28 seconds remaining at 108-108 making a layup. Gay tried to end the game at the end of the regulation with a desperation trey, but missed. The Clippers had a lead of 3 points at 117-114 in the overtime, but Memphis scored 8 unanswered points, and Los Angeles could not regroup.

Gay shot 13-25 from the floor, 4-8 from outside the arc, and 4-4 at the line, for his 34 points, along with his 12 boards, he had 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal. Mike Miller scored 27 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, Kyle Lowry starting at the point scored 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists. Juan Carlos Navarro scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, Hakim Warrick scored 17 points coming off the bench, 5 rebounds, 1 assist.

Maggette shot 8-14 from the floor, ?3-4 outside of the arc 16-18 from the line, for his game high 35 points, 9rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists. Sam Cassell scored 25 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, Tim Thomas scored 23 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks. Cuttino Mobley scored 15 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal.
