Talks Reportedly Heating Up Between Webber & Warriors

ESPN.com reported Monday that veteran free agent Chris Webber’s negotiations with the Golden State Warriors are on the fast track and he could sign a pact with the team as early as?Tuesday. The report names?our old friends “Unnamed sources close to the deal” as saying that the Warriors, seem to have the inside track to be the?team that Webber ends up signing with. Webber had said a while back that if he came back to the Association, it would most likely be with the Detroit Pistons, the team he played for last season. The report states that Webber would play for a pro-rated share of the NBA minimum for veteran players 1.2 million dollars. It also says that talks between Webber? and the L.A. Lakers broke down, because the team wanted to sign Webber to?two 10 days contracts, rather than commit to him for the whole season. Webber played his first season and a half with the Warriors, but a personality conflict between he and coach Don Nelson?forced Golden State to trade him to the Washington Wizards. Nelson who?was fired not long after, is back as bench boss for the Warriors. He says he and Webber long ago settled their differences, and he would love for the team to sign him.
