The Golden State Warriors officially announced Tuesday morning?what we at Slam Dunk Central first reported on Sunday, Chris Webber is back with the team he first played for in the NBA, the Warriors.?Golden State?Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin, a former teammate of Webber’s from his first stint with the club, made the announcement Tuesday. Details of the contract per team policy have not been announced.

Webber says he is excited about the prosepects of playing with Stephen Jackson, and Baron?Davis, and looks forward to once again playing for his former coach Don Nelson. Webber began his NBA career with Golden State, won NBA Rookie of the Year honors, and then had a falling out with coach Don Nelson. The conflict forced the Warriors to trade Webber to Washington, during the next season. Nelson was fired not much later, and the team went into a tailspin. Warriors General Manager Chris Mullin, who played for Nellie, resigned him before last season, and the Warriors made the Post Season for the first time since Nelson?s previous reign.

Nelson says his relationship with Webber, was long ago repaired, and he believes the veteran will be the difference between Golden State making the playoffs?or not. Webber has played 14 seasons in the Association, last year he spent the season starting with Philadelphia, and the bulk of the campaign with the Detroit Pistons. The Warriors have put guard Troy Hudson on waivers to clear a roster spot for Webber.
