You can add one more team to the Jason Kidd sweepstakes as ESPN is reporting that the Denver Nuggets have expressed an interest in the New Jersey Nets point guard; Nuggets executive Mark Warkentien, as expected, did not returns any messages seeking comment.? Nuggets coach George Karl further added fuel to the fire, adding, “I haven’t had a conversation with Mark about (Kidd).”

There may be a problem in Denver obtaining Kidd: Kidd is currently making $19.7 million this season and is due to make $21.4 million next season.? Also consider that Denver is well above the salary cap (luxury tax-land).? ESPN also says that besides Denver, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers are potential suitors of Kidd.

??????????????????????????Phoenix Suns forward Grant Hill

If his practice results are any indication, it appears that Phoenix Suns forward Grant Hill will return to action Tuesday (today) when the Suns host the Atlanta Hawks.? Hill missed Sunday’s practice but felt strong at Monday’s practice.? According to Jay Diffenbach of the Arizona Republic and verified by team head coach Mike D’Antoni, Hill would “get his 20 to 30 minutes” tonight.? D’Antoni added, “I think he’s fine and ready to go.? We want to take it slower than last time. . . . It might be better if he just eases back in.”

??????????????????????????????????? Charlotte Bobcats swingman Gerald Wallace (3) drives to the basket for two points past Los Angeles Clippers center Josh Powell (21) during a fast break in the second half of their game, played Monday night. Charlotte defeated Los Angeles 107-100.?

You know things aren’t going well for the Los Angeles Clippers when they’re missing starting center Chris Kaman (bruised left shin) and starting forward Corey Maggette (flu) and replace them in the lineup with Josh Powell and Al Thornton.? The replacements’ inexcperience showed as the Charlotte Bobcats exploited the Clippers’ makeshift lineup, escaping Staples Center with a 107-100 win Monday night.

The Bobcats lead from the opening tip; they increased their 10-point halftime lead to 73-53 as Raymond Felton drained a pair of 3-pointers 42 seconds apart to cap a 14-2 run 7:41 left in the third quarter.? Foul trouble plagued the Clippers, as Thornton and Powell each picked up their 5th foul with 8 minutes to play and the Bobcats extended their lead to 99-80 with a 9-2 spurt capped by a 3-point play by Gerald Wallace.? The Clippers, after that Bobcats run, could never recover.

Charlotte’s leading scorer was Wallace with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals.? Jason Richardson scored 20, while Felton added 10 and 8 assists.? Los Angeles was led by Tim Thomas with a quiet 29 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists, while Sam Cassell added 17 with 4 rebounds and 7 assists.? Quinton Ross?chipped in 15 in a losing effort.? Charlotte (18-27) flies north to Sacramento to face the Kings Wednesday, while Los Angeles (13-28) continues their homestand by hosting the Atlanta Hawks - also on Wednesday.?

?????????????????????????????Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer (5) releases against San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan (21) during the fourth quarter of their game, played Monday night. Utah beat San Antonio 97-91.?

The San Antonio Spurs had two things going against them playing the Utah Jazz Monday: the Jazz played a more physical game than they usually employ, and the Spurs’ starting 5 had a difficult time scoring.? Utah’s Carlos Boozer and Andei Kirilenko combined for 46 points, leading the Jazz over the Spurs, 97-91 at Energy Solutions Arena.

The game was actually fairly close in the first half before Utah pulled away a bit late in the second half; they would go into halftime leading San Antonio, 55-45.? Both teams scored 21 in the third period, allowing Utah to maintain a 10-point edge; San Antonio never recovered after a 13-2 Utah run late in the third period as the Spurs not only got frustrated because of the officiating, but also because of their sloppy play as they turned the ball over 6 times in the period and only shot 6-for-19.

Utah was led by Boozer and Kirilenko with 23 points each, with Boozer grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists; Kirilenko also stole the ball 4 times.? Deron Williams and Mehmet Okur scored 11 apiece, with Williams dishing out 14 assists.? San Antonio’s starting 5 combined for a total of only 40 points; their leading scorer was reserve Manu Ginobili with 29 points, while Tim Duncan added 26 with 11 rebounds.? Utah (27-18) continues their homestand by hosting the New York Knicks on Wednesday, while San Antonio (28-15) travels to the Northwest to face the Seattle SuperSonics Tuesday.

If you are a regular reader of mine, you know that I have been singing the praises of New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul since his college days at Wake Forest. It is nice to see the rest of “NBA Nation” is finally giving him the recognition that he so richly deserves. Paul had another incredible night, Monday night as he missed a triple-double by just one rebound, scoring 23 points, 17 assists, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, and led the Hornets to a 117-93 pasting of the Denver Nuggets. The Hornets have won their last 9 games in a row, and lead the NBA Southwest Division by 1 game over the Dallas Mavericks.

To say that Paul is having a breakout season, maybe the understatement of the Millennium. If he is not chosen as a reserve to the?NBA Western Conference All-Star team, it will be a major miscarriage of justice. Paul has been the heart, soul and life-force of one of the most pleasant surprises of the NBA campaign. The Hornets have the best record in the Western Conference, and are second only to the Boston Celtics. And Paul is the defining force, behind the Hornets.

New Orleans jumped out to a 33-22 lead at the end of the first quarter, and had a 63-40 advantage as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms at the half. The Hornets had a 87-68 lead going into the final quarter, and then outscored the Nuggets 30-25 in the final quarter.

Paul shot 7-20 from the floor, 1-2 from outside the arc, 8-8 from the?line for his 23 points. Peja Stojakovic scored 19 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, Melvin Ely came off the bench scoring 16 points, 9 boards, 1 assist. David West scored 13 points, 9 rebounds, Jannero Pargo also scored 13 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal. Center Tyson Chandler had another double-double, 10 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block.

Allen Iverson shot 8-16 including 1 trey, and went 6-6 from the line for 23 points, 3 steals, 3 assists, 1 rebound. K-Mart Kenyon Martin scored 18 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, Linas Kleiza scored 14 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, 2 rebounds. J.R. Smith scored 14 points, 3 boards in the loss. New Orleans now has a record of 32-12,?Denver is now 26-18.

ESPN.com reported Monday night that they have received confirmation from veteran free agent Chris Webber? that he will return for another stint playing for the Golden State Warriors. According to the report, ESPN received an e-mail from Webber saying he would be in Oakland tomorrow and “It’s a done deal.”

Webber began his NBA career with Golden State, won NBA Rookie of the Year honors, and then had a falling out with coach Don Nelson. The conflict forced the Warriors to trade Webber to Washington, during the next season. Nelson was fired not much later, and the team went into a tailspin. Warriors General Manager Chris Mullin, who played for Nellie, resigned him before last season, and the Warriors made the Post Season for the first time since Nelson’s previous reign.

Nelson says his relationship with Webber, was long ago repaired, and he believes the veteran will be the difference between Golden State making the playoffs?or not.? Webber said he will reveal his reasons for signing with the Warriors when the team makes the formal announcement.
