Hornets’ Scott To Coach Western Conference All-Stars
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under Main
Now we have the coaches for the 2008 NBA All-Star Game decided; after the Dallas Mavericks lost to the Boston Celtics - whose head coach, Doc Rivers, will coach the Eastern Conference All-Stars - 96-90 on Thursday night, the honors this year go to New Orleans Hornets coach Byron Scott. With this honor, Scott becomes the first to coach the event on his home court in 13 years.
The Hornets are 32-13 (.711), a game better than the Mavericks with 1 game left for each team before the February 3 deadline; The Hornets’ Scott wins the tiebreaker, because the Mavericks’ Avery Johnson coached in the All-Star game more recently, leading the West squad in 2006. Technically, Phoenix entered Thursday one-half game better than New Orleans, but the Suns’ Mike D’Antoni is ineligible as he was the Western squad’s coach last year.
