Nets, Grizzlies Close To Deal

????????????????? New Jersey Nets

Memphis Grizzlies

For those of us who see the name New Jersey Nets in an NBA news story these days, the name that first comes to mind is Jason Kidd.? Not this time, folks – although it does involve a transaction involving the franchise; the Nets are very close to acquiring forward Stromile Swift from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Nets center Jason Collins, according to NBA sources.? The deal was being worked on Thursday night and could become a reality either today or this weekend.

Swift, in 35 games for the Grizzlies, is averaging 6.8 PPG, 3.7 RPG and 1.0 BPG; meanwhile, Collins – who you will not exactly remind you of Shawn Bradley – is averaging for the Nets 1.3 PPG and 2.1 RPG.? I would suspect that this is just the beginning of a team makeover by the Nets, so stay tuned.
